BLACK BOX – SCHAUFENSTER JUNGE KUNST
“A slight wince. A short shudder. These are the symptoms of my attempt to imagine Earth’s distance from the center of the galaxy. An at first seemingly banal intellectual exercise in self-placement, which nonetheless makes me curious and awakens in me the urge to explore further.”
This urge to explore the new will again be pursued by Dave Bopp at the Galerie Stadt Sindelfingen, in its Schaufenster Junge Kunst. In his first institutional solo exhibition, Bopp takes the existing space and its site-specific qualities as reference points for his work. Schaufenster Junge Kunst is transformed into a “Black Box.” The exhibition space’s illuminated ceiling forms a central element of the exhibition, as the starting point for the process of production. The artist, whose primary preference is for painting, explores alternative materials, substrates and uses of light.
