As a location for contemporary art, the Galerie Stadt Sindelfingen has, since its founding in 1990, made it its task to support the work of young and aspiring artists. In this way, the gallery aims to ensure that it continues in the future to create the conditions necessary for an engagement with contemporary positions and aesthetic experiences. Through this forum for experimental formats, challenging artistic positions should be given visibility.

With the series SCHAUFENSTER JUNGE KUNST, established 2017, the gallery pursues exactly this goal, supporting artists with a connection to southern Germany at the beginning of their careers.

The young participant artists are offered not only the chance to display their creations within the exhibition space of a museum, but also the opportunity for experimentation at the direct interface between the gallery and the public. Through a large showcase window in the ground floor of the Galerie Stadt Sindelfingen, the SCHAUFENSTER JUNGE KUNST opens itself up to the public and the surrounding urban area. The connection between interior and exterior space allows visitors to enter into a direct dialog and exchange with young art.

With its support for the SCHAUFENSTER JUNGE KUNST, the Helmut Fischer Foundation fulfills the wishes of the Sindelfingen entrepreneur Helmut Fischer, who beyond his activities in science and technology is also a passionate art collector and literary connoisseur.

It is the founder’s conviction that art, science, research and education are key pillars of our society. It is particularly important to him that art is made accessible to all people. With the long-term support of SCHAUFENSTER JUNGE KUNST, the Helmut Fischer Foundation enables young artists to take their first steps into the business of exhibiting and supports their artistic development.
