RODEL TAPAYA

Rodel Tapaya (*1980 in Montalban, Philippines) is one of the leading and most active artists in Southeast Asia. After residencies at the Parsons School of Design, New York, USA and the University of Helsinki, Finland he completed his studies at the UP College of Fine Arts in Diliman, Philippines. A key theme within his work is the way in which folk tales (folklore, myths and legends) become infused in contemporary reality. He maps memory and history onto current events in order to comment upon our current lives.
