The work Go by Anna Schütten examine the significance of the location and explore ways of being activated by the observer. Her painting goes far beyond the limitations of the canvas. She cuts it open and tears out pieces here and there, rearranging them and putting the linear sequence of her pictorial elements to question. The holes in the canvas are breaks in the composition, producing sequences of visible silence.

Anna Schütten (born in Cologne in 1989) studied with Leni Hoffmann and Christian Ertel at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. In 2015 she was awarded the 12th ‘Akademiepreis der Stadt Freiburg‘ and was granted a scholarship from the Christoph Merian Foundation in Basel in 2018. Schütten has shown works in many group exhibitions.
